Arsenal’s inconsistency often frustrates their supporters but one thing Arsene Wenger’s team can’t be accused of is failing to respond in the right way to setbacks.

After their desperately disappointing 3-2 defeat to Stoke at the weekend, the Gunners travelled to Turkey in need of a morale-boosting three points against Galatasaray.

They secured them in style. Lukas Podolski and Aaron Ramsey scored two goals each in a 4-1 victory, and the Welshman’s second strike ranks among the most brilliant moments of genius seen in this year’s group stage.

A corner from the Arsenal left was cleared to Ramsey who, from at least 30 yards, connected beautifully with the bouncing ball with his left foot and watched as it rose into the top corner of Sinan Bolat’s net.

“When he took the shot I thought that it was maybe not the best idea, but the way he took it, it flew in,” Wenger said after the game.
